Although this site devotes itself purely to the lyrics of Hindi/Urdu film and non-Film songs, the song in its entirety owes its genesis to the collective efforts of the singer, the composer and the lyricist, among several others. The individual lyrics pages attempt to give due credit to the singers, composers and lyricists involved, wherever such information is available.

Here, we present brief Biographical Sketches of the Singers, Composers and Lyricists who share the credits for the songs included in the ISB. It must be pointed out that this section does not currently include sketches for every single artiste represented in ISB. Furthermore, while this section is classified by Singer, Composer and Lyricist, there are several versatile geniuses who have had a hand in more than one field with a fair measure of success. In such cases, the artiste appears under the class for which (s)he is primarily known. Thus, Mukesh appears under the list of singers although he does have credit for composing music for a few songs. And then there are those like Hemant Kumar who can be classified as singer and as composer with equal justification. Or Pradeep who can be listed as lyricist and as singer with equal justification.
